Ensure that the surface where the tiles will be installed is clean, smooth, and dry. Remove any dust, debris, or old adhesive. If the surface is not level, use a self-leveling underlayment. Start by applying tile adhesive evenly over a small area using a notched trowel. Work in small sections to prevent the adhesive from drying out before you lay the tiles. Place the tiles firmly into the adhesive, using tile spacers to maintain even gaps between them. Press down gently to ensure a good bond. When you reach the edges or need to fit around obstacles, measure and cut the tiles accordingly using a tile cutter or a wet saw. Leave a small gap around the perimeter of the tiled area to allow for expansion. This gap will be filled with caulk after the installation is complete. Once the tiles are set and the adhesive has dried, remove the tile spacers and apply grout using a grout float. Make sure to fill all the gaps between the tiles completely. After applying the grout, clean off any excess using a damp sponge before it dries. Depending on the type of grout used, you may need to apply a sealer to protect it from stains and moisture. Fill the expansion joints and any gaps between the tiles and walls with caulk. This helps to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Once everything is in place, inspect the tiled area carefully to ensure that everything is level and properly aligned. Keep your tiled surface clean by regularly sweeping and mopping. Use a mild detergent and avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the tiles or grout. Inspect the grout periodically for any signs of cracking or crumbling. Repair any damaged areas promptly to prevent water damage. If your grout requires sealing, be sure to reapply the sealer as recommended to maintain its integrity.
